We are going to do the activities on yellow page 84:

And the activities on WEB BOOK unit 6.

TUESDAY 5TH WEDNESDAY 6TH MAY 2020

Good morning, class!!!
Here we are again after this long weekend.
It's been great to go outside and do some sport 🚴.
Today we start a four-working-day week, and soon it'll be Friday again.

Well. You've learn a lot of vocabulary about RELATIONSHIPS and PERSONALITY.
You've learnt to use some modal verbs ( SHOULD - MUST - HAVE TO - NEED TO - CAN - COULD - BE ABLE TO - MAY - MIGHT).
You've read texts and listened to conversations about friendship and now it's time to SPEAK.

Please watch these videos, take notes and use the vocabulary and expressions in your speaking:

Here is a twenty minutes talk about friendship. You can activate the automatic subtitles in English:

And here is the audio of  PAGE 79 EX 9 🎤. I think it can be very useful to improve your pronunciation. Repeat these sentences once and again until you sound natural.

On this occasion you won't have to write anything, just speaking.

PAGE 79 EX 10: SPEAKING

I expect a really good job. You can do it with a friend online, with somebody in your family or just by yourself.  Please, change roles. Enjoy

TUESDAY 28TH - WEDNESDAY 29TH

GOOD MORNING CLASS!

Third week of the third term and only four class days. Yes, next Friday is the first of May, the International Workers' Day. So we are having just three English lessons.

How about your staying at home while your younger brothers and sisters went out for a walk? Or you are still fourteen years old and could go out with your family? The case of Ilde, for example, must have been hard: he has just turned 15, so he hasn't been able to go out for a walk with his family. Oh, Damn!!! I'm sorry my friend. Anyway you can go to to the shops on your own: not bad at all!

And talking about school work, we keep on learning vocabulary and expressions to talk about friendship

Today we start the last part of the unit with some vocabulary activities.
Please read the TEXT on PAGE 78. Listen carefully to this audio:
https://padlet-uploads.storage.googleapis.com/487361353/3da6a2b97ba9782e77d5832c51acb2e5/WTE3_SB_CD2_29.mp3

Look up in the dictionary for all the new words and try to understand the text. Then, practice your reading and your pronunciation. Listen and repeat as many times as it is necessary. When you are able to do it well, record your voice and send me the audio.

After that, You'll be ready to do the following activities:

THURSDAY 23RD

ATTENTION: Many of you haven't sent the EXTRA PRACTICE activities yet!! DO IT TODAY!!!

Well class!

It seems that you are understanding the MODALS quite well.

Remember that we are talking about LEARNING.
We are not just talking about doing exercises and sending them to the teacher.

The Coronavirus is teaching us some lessons. One of them is that you can learn by yourselves with a little help from your teacher and your determination to LEARN.

Just sending exercises is useless, but if you LEARN at the same time, your English will be a reality. You will be able to communicate in this amazing language.

We are using the MODALS to communicate about friendship. Don't forget.

End of Sermon.

And now it's time to practice
CAN - COULD - BE ABLE TO - MAY - MIGHT

with some activities:
PAGE 157, EX 4
PAGE 158, EX 5, 6, 7

Deadline Friday evening

Volunteer work: Do you want to learn more? Do these online activities of mixed modals and send me some photos:

The answers to EXTRA PRACTICE will be published tomorrow

TUESDAY 21ST APRRL - WEDNESDAY 22ND APRIL

Second week after Easter and we MUST keep on working with  MODAL VERBS. Some students have made very good summaries of the grammar. Some have taken good notes form the videos.

I HAVE POSTED A NEW FUNNY VIDEO:  HAVE A LOOK AT IT ↠

It's important to understand it well before doing the activities. it's also very important to understand the sentences. If you know the grammar rules and understand the sentence, your answers will be correct. It's important that yo take your responsibility over this.

Let's revise a bit before going ahead. These are the four first MODAL verbs:

MUST:                OBLIGACIÓN:                          DEBER
SHOULD:           DAR CONSEJOS.                      DEBERÍA
HAVE TO:           OBLIGACIÓN:                          DEBER
NEED TO:          OBLIGACIÓN - NECESIDAD:   TENER QUE

HAVE TO y NEED TO se conjugan. Es decir, se pueden poner en otros tiempos verbales (pasado, futuro, etc) empleando el auxiliar DO/DOES en presente, DID en pasado y WILL en futuro.

MUST y SHOULD son verdaderos modales. Por lo que solo se usan en presente.

ACTIVITIES: PAGE 157 EX 1-2-3
EXTRA PRACTICE 1

You can do these activities with your computer on the WORD file. If you want.
DEADLINE: WEDNESDAY EVENING!

ABOUT THE READING: the legend of Damon and Pythias
It's great to hear your voices again. And most of you have made a good reading. Nevertheless, I am sure you could do it better if you listened to the recording and practiced several times before. Please, use this system and try to improve your pronunciation next time:

Today we are going to start with the second grammar point of this Unit. We keep on learning about the MODAL VERBS. This time with:

CAN - COULD - BE ABLE TO - MAY  - MIGHT

I have posted two good videos. You can see them on the right of this page:

Everything is also clearly explained in Spanish in the grammar appendix of your textbook (pages 174 -175). Read it and take relevant notes in your notebook (you can send me a photo, please).

Once you have watched the videos, read the grammar appendix and take notes. Then, it's time to check if you have understood everything. How are we going to check that? Doing some exercises:
